Flower preservation FAQ
-
To me, flower preservation is an art practice, not a business. My clients are my patrons, whom I meet in person and I get to know throughout the process. I personally handle every detail - from the initial email to commission pick-up and the many steps in between. In contrast to large flower preservation businesses, where your flowers are handled by many hands as fast as possible, I give each and every commission my undivided attention. Speed is not my goal, but personal attention and perfection.
Over the years, I have developed a design aesthetic that blends rich layering and textures reminiscent of Victorian gardens with a clean, modern style. After months of experimentation, I have created a preservation approach that combines pressed and dried flowers in my frame, creating unmatched dimension and vibrancy. This method works with “fluffy” flowers like ranunculus, certain peony types, dahlias and more.
If you’d like to learn more about my philosophy, please read this post on my blog.

Preserved flowers have their own journey through time. Lighter colors may gradually soften, but I offer complimentary color enhancement to ensure your pieces maintain their vibrancy. Natural yellowing occurs over time for resin pieces, particularly in direct sunlight. I often recommend black backgrounds for functional pieces like trays and coasters, as this helps conceal subtle changes while maintaining their beauty.
-
I have honed my flower preservation craft over hundreds of hours of practice, and I stand by my work. Each piece represents approximately 25 hours of dedicated artistry, combining technical skill with creative vision. This intensive process, paired with museum-quality materials, creates heirloom-quality pieces that will preserve your memories for years to come.

Wedding clients typically invest $1,000+ in their preservation pieces, while custom gifts and jewelry begin at $200. I believe in transparency and will always provide clear pricing based on your specific vision.

I typically need 12 months, though I always aim to finish as soon as possible.

For local Chicago clients, I'll provide detailed drop-off instructions three weeks before your event. If you're traveling with flowers, I'll guide you through proper protection techniques to ensure they arrive in optimal condition. If you choose to ship your flowers, I’ll share simple packing instructions.
-
While I primarily serve local clients, I can accommodate shipping to and from my studio. For sending flowers to me, next-day air (approximately $200) is recommended to maintain freshness. Completed pieces can be shipped via insured UPS, typically ranging from $40-90, depending on size and weight.
-
I structure payments to make the process manageable and affordable: a $100 booking fee followed by 50% of the balance three weeks before your event (or upon contract signing), with the remaining 50% due before pickup. This interest-free arrangement helps make preservation accessible while ensuring I can dedicate proper time and materials to your commission.

Yes, though each situation is unique. Bouquets that are 2-3 years old often respond well to restoration, while older pieces require careful evaluation. I'll always be honest about what's possible and what might need to be adjusted in our preservation approach.

I’m happy to recreate your bouquet using photographs as a reference. The typical investment for flower sourcing ranges from $100-200, depending on the varieties needed to capture your original design.
